With the support of the National Cultural Fund of Hungary, the Primanima team has gone on a spring tour across the country twice already—most recently in the spring of 2022. These events take the secrets of animation filmmaking to schools and cultural centres to share them with the local children.
As a new addition, this year’s Primanima Animation Fun Zone Caravan featured a carefully compiled screening programme besides the activities, presenting some of the most outstanding works of contemporary Hungarian animation. The organizers consider it important that children’s animations created by Hungarian filmmakers make it to the screen, so that children can access quality Hungarian films depicting their cultural world specifically. This year the selection includes an episode of each of the series Fledglings, Castaways, A Door to Othertown, Urban Legends and Tales from the Lakeside, two graduation films from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, titled Out There and Windbreak, as well as the trailer of the animated feature film Csongor and Tünde, a short titled Little Devils.
The organizers also brought to the event locations an exhibition based on the behind the scenes talks Ervin B. Nagy, Péter SZEILER, Bálint GELLEY, Kati GLASER, Judit OROSZ and Ágnes GYŐRFI, in which they talk about their filmmaking process. This way children can get closer to the animation film directors and learn about their creative methods, while the stories about the animation artists’ individual paths can help them in choosing their own creative careers.
The selection of films and the exhibition is now accessible for the festival guests at the Budaörs event.
